Okay, so the 'Retrospective' feature should really be for things that are more than four years old. However, ahead of the US release of Cars 2, it's Pixar Week over at Flixist and I've written up an article/review (it's somewhere between the two) on Ratatouille, one of my favourites from the studio's much celebrated canon. It's a lovely film with wonderful character work and stunning visuals - with the dishes Rémy prepares given at least as much care as the beautifully rendered Paris backdrops.
The article is supposed to evoke the tone of a mildly inebriated French chef describing the pleasures of his menu, which I think comes on a bit too strong in parts, but is hopefully fun to read anyway. Once you've done that, you can decide whether or not you want to vote for Ratatouille in the Flixist Movie Debate to the Death, whose topic is (of course) deciding which Pixar movie is the best. So far there doesn't seem to be a clear frontrunner, so your choice could make all the difference!
